U6 - 8 SSG

New to 2008 is the small sided games program (SSG) for U6 - 8 age groups. This program has been introduced nation wide by the FFA and is a great initiative that will help in the future development of young Socceroos. In years to come this program will move up in age group to U9 in 2009, U10 in 2010, U11 in 20011 and U12 in 2012.

On the Gold Coast the format for these age groups will be as follows. Games will be played in small groups of clubs. Each age group will play at each venue for two weeks and then rotate to a new venue. Each club will get a period of two weeks where there are no U6 - 8 games at their venue. The system works as follows: U6 at Club 1, U7 at Club 2, U8 at Club 3 and no games at Club 4 for two weeks, then they rotate.

One coach will be assigned to two teams that will train together during the week and then play their games one after the other at the same venue so that the coach can be there for both games.

PPSC SSG main focus is on skill development, dribbling and lots of little touches on the ball.

SSG training times are Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from 4.30 - 5.30pm. Please check with your child's coach to ensure these are the times he will be working to.

SSG game day is Saturday mornings from 8.30am onwards. Your team coordinator will have a draw for your team before the first game of the season. Team draws can also be sourced here.

Please ensure your child has their boots, shin pads, a drink bottle and suitable training attire when they arrive at training. Coaches have been instructed to start their sessions on time, to make sure your child gets the full benefit of their training time please ensure they have the correct equipment and are ready to train on time.

Remember PPSC is not a child minding service, we are a community based sporting club. Remember that while all care is taken to ensure your child’s safety, coaches are not responsible to wait at the grounds until you arrive. At the conclusion of their session it is the parents responsibility to collect their child from the field.
